Located in Krog Street Market, Fred’s Meat and Bread is everything that there is to love about food. Fred’s has the charm and flare of an old school soda shop with a pull up counter serving up some of Atlanta’s best comfort classics. Chef Todd Ginsberg of The General Muir, Yalla, and West Egg channeled his own childhood when coming up with the menu. The menu-board is both eclectic and drool-worthy. Fred’s has everything from Korean fried chicken sandwiches to Oyster Po Boys. Don’t forget to grab a side of hand-cut fries and a vintage soda to wash it all down!

Right next door to Fred's Meat & Bread lies a colorful Mediterranean restaurant serving up hearty favorites. Owner and head chef, Todd Ginsberg uses classic spices and cooking methods for the perfect shwarma. He stuffs shwarma (marinated chicken on a spicket) and/or falafel into bowls with an array of toppings like Israeli tabouli and hummus. Yalla is also famous for their laffa wraps which are equivalent to an 18" tortilla! Pile on the shwarma, falafel and toppings and add one of their signature low- sugar sodas for the complete Mediterranean meal.

This could be the most decorated pizza on the planet! But when you take pizza as seriously as owner Giovanni Di Palma does, you're bound to win a few awards. Di Palma didn't sacrifice one detail of his family's age-old Pizza Napoletana recipe when he brought it here to Atlanta: Fior di Latta and Mozzarella di Bufala cheeses are flown in fresh from Naples each week; San Marzano and Pomodorini tomatoes are hand-picked in Campania; three 10,000 lb. ovens were custom built from ancient Santa Maria brick and volcanic rock from Mt. Vesuvius...and get so hot that a pizza cooks to perfection in only about 60 seconds.

Yeah. A whole pizza cooks in 60 seconds. Which is great, because -- trust us -- the faster you can get your hands on one of Antico's nine famous pies, the better.

We'd sell our soul for the Diavola pizza, which is made with fresh Mozzarella di Bufala, spicy sopressata, and pepperonata. Another pizza masterpiece -- the San Gennaro -- features fresh mozzarella, broccoli rabe, and salsiccia. The menu also includes calzones and Italian desserts.

Walk into any slice shop in New York City and a pizzaiolo will claim to specialize in Neapolitan pizza. A fixture in the NYC slice game for decades, Mangieri made a name for himself as a savant-like pizza purist hellbent on perfection. Today, returning to Manhattan after years on the west coast, the chef just wants to make a pizza that perfectly represents his own unique tastes and experiences. "For me, at this point in my life, I don’t think the pizza is the best. I think that it’s just mine and it’s what I offer," Mangieri says. "That’s what I bring to New York. I bring myself and my ideas and my independence."

Lure: To attract or entice. By Merriam-Webster's definition, Lure, Fifth Group Restaurants' Midtown fish house, is aptly named.

Like Ecco and Alma Cocina, two of Fifth Group's other Midtown restaurants, Lure boasts a gigantic bar which is great for dining with a friend or two, or sampling some delicious craft cocktails. The restaurant itself deftly bridges the gap between elegant fine dining and friendly, accessible, low-key dinner. Stylish but approachable, Lure is the George Clooney of Atlanta's restaurant scene.

Obviously, this being a fish house, the menu is heavy on the seafood, and you're going to find some of the freshest fish in the city in Lure's kitchen. And if your preference is for oysters or calamari...then Crescent Avenue in Midtown is where you need to be.

Hal's on Old Ivy in Buckhead is the James Bond of steak houses. Sean Connery as Bond, not Roger Moore. It's exclusive without being snobbish, classy without being aloof. The Pizzeria del Presidente from Ernesto Cacialli is located in Naples, where the most successful fast food had been invented. Even President Clinton enjoyed his pizza once.
The classic pizza is still the Pizza Margherita. Invented at the end of the 19th century, this pizza was named after Queen Margaret. When by Raffaele Esposito was invited to create a pizza for her, he chose the Italian national colors red, white and green and used tomatoes, basil and mozzarella for the first time.
In New York, pizza is served different; cut in slices it is easier to take it to go. So it became a food that you could grab and walk with it, adapted to the fast New York lifestyle.

Anthony Mangieri has been described as a religious figure in the world of pizza. His Neapolitan pizza is naturally leavened, never refrigerated, and feels remarkably complex for all its simplicity. In 2009, when he moved Una Pizza Napoletana from New York's East Village to San Francisco, his cult following was dejected.

Lucky for us, Anthony's East Coast personality never fully adapted to the West Coast life, so he's back. Unlike in the past when Una Pizza Napoletana was mostly a one-man operation with a limited menu, Anthony has teamed up with the chefs behind the Lower East Side's Wildair and Contra, Jeremiah Stone and Fabián von Hauske Valtierra. Una Pizza is back in New York and we couldn't be happier.

It doesn't get more local than Brookhaven's Buttermilk Kitchen -- owner/chef, Suzanne Vizethan makes her own buttermilk. In the kitchen. And then she makes the most delicious pancakes with the buttermilk she makes in the kitchen. Seriously, it could get like a Doctor Seuss book.

Whether you're craving a quick lunch or a hearty breakfast, this place has what you want, and none of it comes from a can. The closest that Chef Suzanne comes to prepacked food is when she uses Emily G's apple pie jam on the flavor bonanza that is the BMK Eggs Benedict.

If you watch the video you'll hear shout outs for local purveyors, Emily G's Jam, Spotted Trotter Meats, and Split Cedar Farm. And sure, you could get a giant breakfast plate at IHOP, but when you buy at Buttermilk Kitchen you're supporting a local economy, and keeping at least three other local companies in business -- doesn't that make you feel good?
